Denise Smith (Turner)-married to Mark Turner 17 years

Unfortunately, I learned Denise died December 23, 2010, from losing her battle with breast cancer.  I had lost track of her over the past few years and only after talking with her sister, Linda Smith Genet, Class of '68, learned what I should have known first-hand.  Denise was still the brilliant, diversified, stubborn, defiant, generous, and loving person she had always been.

Denise had received a Master's Degree in Psychology from Northeastern State, Tahlequah; worked as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor at Hillcrest Hospital; at one time was a Volunteer for the Tulsa Public Library, teaching adults to read.  She also worked in the legal field, as a Personal Assistant for Tommy Frazier, Attorney-at-law.

She was a member of the Tulsa Garden Club, as she was an avid gardener and gardened till her health wouldn't let her continue.

Her final wish was granted, as she wanted to die at her own home, surrounded by her loved ones.

The death of her Father, Bobby Smith, came 2 weeks to the day of her own death.

May they both rest in peace and know they were loved while here on this earth.

Love ya Niecie, Sabra

It's difficult to put into words the impression someone of our youth can make on us. I knew Denise during our Junior High years while we attended Lewis and Clark. I was your typical Junior High, painfully shy, liked the pretty girls kind of guy. Denise was a knock down gourgous young lady. She was a cheerleader. She was our Homecoming Queen. I never forgot when our football captain gave her a kiss at half time and crowned her. I thought he was the luckiest guy in school. She was out going and nice in general. Someone who could make your day by saying hi as you moved through the hall.
